All Noelle Cunningham has ever wanted is a life beyond–beyond the walls of Eden, where only the righteous are allowed to remain, and beyond her stiflingly restrictive existence as a councilman’s daughter. But only ruins lie outside the City, remnants of a society destroyed by solar storms decades earlier.
The sectors surrounding Eden house the corrupt, the criminal–men like Jasper McCray, bootlegger and cage fighter. Jas clawed his way up from nothing to stand at the right hand of Sector Four’s ruthless leader, and he’ll defend the O’Kane gang with his life. But no fight ever prepared him for the exiled City girl who falls at his feet.
Her innocence is undeniable, but so is their intense sexual attraction, and soon they’re crossing every boundary Noelle barely knew she had. But if she wants to belong to Jas, first she’ll have to open herself to a dangerous world of sex, lust and violence. A world where passion is power, and freedom is found in submission.
I found this novel on one of the many sites I use to find free kindle books. I was pretty stoked for it because it sounded amazing. A futuristic dystopia erotica? Yes please! Not to mention it was free. I enjoyed it so much that, halfway through, I bought the boxset with the first three novels.
First off, I need to warn you that this novel is HOT. I am talking so erotic that I had to set it down and walk away mid scene because I was on fire. And I didn’t just do it once. Nothing shocks me anymore, despite my distaste for certain kinks, and I have pretty much read it all. Very rarely do I run across a novel so erotic that it physically effects me. There is some aspects of BDSM, heavy on the bondage, domination, and masochism. If you have a problem with toys, anal, FFM, MFM, masochism, or orgies, this is definitely not a book for you. However, it is some of the most tasteful writing I have ever read. I have read historical romances more vulgar than this, both in language and delivery.
But this novel wasn’t just about the hot sex. There was so much feeling and complexity packed into each and every characters, I found myself swept away by my own emotions. There are a lot of characters in this novel, but it’s not hard to keep them straight. They each have their own specific and detailed history/story. I became invested in each and every one and I don’t think I will be satisfied until I know each one and their ending.
Overall, Beyond Shame is a masterfully written erotica filled with engaging characters and a powerful storyline. The dystopia aspect was just a plus.
