Tagged: Reading Habits Tag

Thank you to the phenomenal Allyssa of at The Ultimate Book Geek for tagging me in this reading habits tag. I have never been tagged before, so I was ecstatic to do this.

imagesDo you have a certain place at home for reading?

Usually I just read in the king-size bed that my fiancé and I share. If the weather is nice though, I love sitting on my front porch swing or on my grandmother’s glider swing in the back yard.

imagesBookmark or random piece of paper?

I honestly use whatever I can. I do have specific bookmarks (like the one Tracy M. Joyce sent me when I bought book plates from her) that I sometimes use, but I tend to lose real bookmark.

imagesCan you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/a certain amount of pages?

I have had to learn to stop reading whenever because life happens. I typically like to stop after a chapter but sometimes that just doesn’t happen.

images Do you eat or drink while reading?

I will if it is an ebook on my phone. Trying to eat while reading a paperback is just begging for trouble with me and I loath getting grease or anything on my books. Drinking is okay either way though since I always drink from a closed container.

imagesMultitasking: Music or TV while reading?

If it is up to me, no. I can’t fully concentrate on what I am reading if there is background noise. However, my fiancé is a gamer and usually has something (Netflix/youtube) playing as background noise while he games. It’s easier for me to block it out now, but I’d much rather read in silence

images  Reading at home or everywhere?

I always try to have a book with me whether it’s a real book or an ebook. I spend a lot of time waiting for things, so I like to be able to pull a book out and read. I do prefer to read at home though.

imagesReading out loud or silently in your head?

I CANNOT read out loud. I can’t explain why but it makes me uncomfortable. Plus I don’t retain anything that way.

images  Do you read ahead or even skip pages?

It is actually really hard for me to read anything from start to finish without skipping around. I don’t even know why. Only a really good  novel will have me reading from start to finish. I will skip pages or read ahead if I just can’t get into the novel or want to know something that happens but don’t actually want to read the novel. I am terrible for skipping around.

imagesBreaking the spine or keeping it like new?

Sometimes I can’t get around it. I like unbroken spines because they look nicer on the shelf, but I am not overly concerned with keeping them looking new. I will only purposely break the spine if it helps with holding the book.

images Do you write in your books?

I have never had a reason to write in a book.

Those people that I tag are:

Emma @ Blu Chicken Ninja

Molly @ Molly Lolly

Deanna @ a novel glimpse

Kali @ Gemini Perspective
